Five invoice details that delay export payments

Most delayed export payments trace back to a document mismatch, not an unwilling buyer. Check these before you send.

1. HS codes that don’t match the packing list

Customs and banks compare line by line.

2. Incoterms missing from the invoice

FOB, CIF or DAP changes who pays freight and insurance — state it.

3. Currency and exchange rate

Invoice in the buyer’s currency and record the rate you used.

4. IEC and bank details

An outdated IEC or AD code sends your document back.

5. Consignee name spelled differently

It must match the letter of credit exactly.
